My grandmother Mary was born in Cahereevagh Townland in Kilmaine Parish Mayo 1914. She was the daughter of John Gilmore and his second wife Ellen Finnerty. When she was born she had two half brothers and a half sister who would all emigrate to the USA in the 1920s while she was a teenager. She had two full brothers and two full sisters. Mary was 19 when she married my Grandfather
The parents of John Gilmore (b1861) were Bryan Gilmore (b1818-died 1883) and Mary Gibbons (b1818-d1898) in Cathereevagh, County Mayo. John was the second youngest of nine. The other children of Bryan Gilmore and Mary Gibbons were :
Although John had five older brothers two never married and two emigrated and one moved to Swinford, so John took over the farm.

Anne Conroy died in 1903 aged only 33 of suspected heart failure. .
John Gilmore remarried to my Great grandmother Ellen Finnerty on the 7th of February 1906. As he was a farmer with three young children he remarried just over two years after his first wife died. My great grandmother Ellen Finnerty was from the Toberrowe/ Brownsisland area. Toberrowe and Brownsisland border each other but the former is in County Galway and the latter in County Mayo. Her father was Martin Finnerty (1825-1919 and her mother was Bridget Hughes (1836-1912). John Gilmore and Ellen Finnerty went on to have five children:
The oldest relative on this line is Martin Finnerty of Brownsisland, Mayo who was born at approximately 1800 or before. He had five children that I have identified :
